Keith Olbermann appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson yesterday and was relentlessly mocked for having a small, unmanly dog.
Craig learned of the miniature mutt during a commercial break, and then devoted nearly a whole segment to uncovering embarrassing details about the pup and using them to openly mock his guest.
Mr. Ferguson began by asking the former MSNBC and Current TV host what kind of dog he had. Not wanting to admit to the puny size of the pooch, Mr. Olbermann feigned ignorance and said that he did not know. But this did not stop the determined Scotsman, who derided Keith to his face with the following line of questioning:
Craig Ferguson: Is it a little dog that fits in your purse, as you go around to your outspoken, liberal meetings?
Keith Olbermann: Yes, on a big – on a pillow, and I feed it caviar.
Craig Ferguson: Really?
Keith Olbermann: No.
After that uncomfortable exchange, Craig pressed Keith further to reveal more humiliating details about the compact canine:
Craig Ferguson: You don’t know what kind of a dog it is?
Keith Olbermann: It’s a Maltese.
Craig Ferguson: Maltese?
Keith Olbermann: It’s a little dog. It’s a white Maltese.
Craig Ferguson: What happened to you, man? Why’d you get a tiny little dog? Why didn’t you get like a regular American dog? You got a tiny little Maltese dog? What the hell?!
Olbermann then began to dote on his tiny pet, telling Ferguson that it was very close to speaking and giving him instructions on what to do. Keith did a dreadfully awful impression of the dog speaking English, which was followed by the following hilarious question from Ferguson:
Craig Ferguson: Are you sure you’re not talking about Al Gore again?
Keith Olbermann: No, ’cause he was never that clear.
The audience then booed Keith Olbermann for making fun of His Eminence Al Gore, which was perhaps the highlight of the entire interview.
