Everyone studied the year 1614 in school. You know, the year that the Constitution was written?
Sound ridiculous? Not if you are Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX).
While addressing the floor of the House today, the Texas Congresswoman made it known that she apparently thinks that the Constitution is 400 years old when she said this:
And how well it is that we have lasted some 400 years operating under a Constitution that clearly defines what is constitutional and what is not.
Here’s the video:
Never mind that the Mayflower hadn’t even set sail for America in 1614. In Lee’s universe, the Pilgrims probably found the Constitution lying on Plymouth Rock when they landed in 1620.
Now, this is not the first time that something crazy has spilled out of the mouth of the Democratic Congresswoman. Below are some of the other wacked out things that Lee has uttered:
- She once said that the US won the Vietnam War and that today there are two countries, North Vietnam and South Vietnam, coexisting side by side
- She asked to change the name of “welfare” to the “transitional living fund” because people live on it
- She advocated for “martial law” during a 2013 Congressional session as a means to end the government shutdown
And my personal favorite:
- She once asked a NASA engineer if the Mars Rover could travel to the place on Mars where the astronauts planted the American flag
Stupid is as stupid does.
You could be the dumbest person for 1,000 miles, but you’d have to feel good about yourself after listening to Sheila Jackson Lee speak.
