On last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Woody Harrelson, the opening sketch featured a mock pow-wow between President Obama and newly anointed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, played by SNL cast members Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam.
The sketch depicted Obama and McConnell meeting at the White House and communing over a glass of Kentucky bourbon in a gesture of goodwill. However, decorum between the two men quickly deteriorated as one glass turned into two, two glasses into three, and so on.
At drink four, Obama and McConnell decided to place a prank call to 2016 Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton. By the end of the sketch, the pair’s hijinks had raised the ire of First Lady Michelle Obama, played by castmate Sasheer Zamata, who briefly appeared to scold Barack and send him to the doghouse.
Overall, the skit was a good show-opener and is worth checking out. Watch the SNL sketch mocking President Obama and Mitch McConnell’s “bourbon summit” here:
