Over the weekend, President Obama, First Lady Michelle and the First Kids decided to venture out of the house to take in some D.C.-area college hoops.
Although Mr. Obama is known to be a huge basketball fan, the real reason for attending the game was so that Michelle and family could support her bother, Craig Robinson, head coach of the Oregon State Beavers, as they played against the University of Maryland Terrapins in nearby College Park.
It was first reported by the Daily Mail that upon entering the Comcast Center, where the game took place, the President was booed by the crowd and reacted by covering his ears:
Other blogs picked up the story here and here.
However, after a fact check by The Blaze, this turned out not to be the case. Of all the video which surfaced of the Obamas at this basketball game, none indicated any booing, not at the Commander-in-Chief anyway.
It has not been explained why the President covered his ears at this particular moment. However, he has been known to do this in the past, sometimes at very critical moments. Here are a few examples from earlier in his Presidency where Obama decided that he would hear no more:
While Putin shot an assault rifle
During a speech by the First Lady
While debating Mitt Romney
While some tramp sang
When Benjamin Netanyahu said anything
While Ted Cruz filibustered
During the National Anthem
During a Fox News interview
While Dr. Ben Carson spoke
In the Situation Room
