Today, the President and the First Lady traveled in Marine One to New York City, where Obama will address the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly later this week.
While exiting the Presidential helicopter, Obama walked down the stairs and was, as is tradition, saluted by two Marines at attention.
Not to be bothered, President Cool returned a hasty salute with a to-go coffee cup still in his hand.
Here are the “optics” on the now-infamous “latte salute”:
It seems that folks aren’t so impressed by the Commander-in-Chief’s gesture:
I had to salute with a prosthetic arm, yet Obama cant even put down his damn latte? Come on.

If there was ever any doubt as 2 the level of regard Obama holds for our military, this latte salute seals the deal http://t.co/9Hy6QeN4hM

Hail to the Chief, except when he has a latte.
Then he is busy, so don't make him salute.

OUT: "Phoning it in."
IN: "Saluting the latte."

How much trouble would the marine get into if he slapped the cup of coffee out of Barack's hands. #SemperLatte #semperfi #tcot #ccot

Semper Latte, Mr. President.
