Go to any American public school and you will quickly find that Michelle Obama’s much-lauded school lunch program is not exactly popular on campus. In fact, students across the country are revolting against the First Lady’s new cafeteria menu, which they find to be, well, revolting.
Part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, the revised school lunch standards that Mrs. Obama is pushing are anything but appetizing. For example, there is a calorie cap placed on meals, there is less meat and cheese provided, and more fruits and vegetables are required.
Mmm, more vegetables: just what American kids want. Thanks, Michelle!
Dan Joseph with the Media Research Center had the First Lady’s restrictive school lunch program in mind when he attended the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s annual conference recently.
With camera in tow, Joseph visited with several attendees and asked them an absolutely fantastic question:
“Should Michelle’s healthy food standards be applied to other government assistance programs like food stamps, SNAP benefits, and EBT cards?”
The reactions from some of the conference-goers are priceless. Check out the video here:
